This show presents works of Madara Tropa created in multiple media, drawing, watercolor, and sculpture, and reflects upon her meditations while living along the Connecticut River. In her work, nature is the main source of observation and inspiration. Through contemplation of its forms and landscape, flora and fauna, she works through notions of being, the temporal space which we inhabit, and our ultimately common fragility.

Madara Tropa (1987, Latvia) is a visual artist based in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, United States. She completed her studies at “La Esmeralda” National University of Art in Mexico City. She has participated in group shows at the Pier-2 Art Center in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, the Winzavod Contemporary Art Center in Moscow, Russia, the Equity Gallery in New York, the Museum of Mexico City, and others. Her artwork probes between the limits of fiction and reality, in search of her most profound understanding of being. In her paintings, Madara transforms her visions of places into a meditative journey where contemplation and memory are the main keywords of reference.
